for the following leadership positions for the 2017 election:
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OFFICERS (2):
President Elect: 3-year term from 2017 to 2020
Year One: the President-Elect shall be a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee and will perform the duties of the office of the President whenever the President is unable to do so, and serve as chair of the Finance Committee.
Year Two: the President will preside at all meetings of the Society, the Board of Directors, and of the Executive Committee. The President will appoint, with the approval of the Board of Directors, all committees not otherwise provided for in the By-Laws. The President shall be a member of the Board of Directors and shall serve as its Chair.
Year Three: the Immediate Past President will serve as the fund-raiser and assume the responsibilities as assigned by the President, and in the absence of the President and President-Elect, perform the duties of the office of President
Testimonial from Caryn Belisle: "I am truly humbled and honored to have had the opportunity to serve as President of MSHP. The office of the president is certainly a privileged one; serving as the voice of MSHP to all of the membership, representing MSHP at the state house for Face of Pharmacy day, overseeing the strategic plan of the society and making decisions that will ultimately shape the future of the society. I had a wonderful experience serving as President and would highly recommend it to any member that has an interest in enhancing their leadership, communication, and networking skills. Sometimes we are caught up in our daily functions at work and we miss what is happening in other areas of pharmacy. Serving as President is a great way to see the big picture of our profession as you are exposed to the operational, clinical, and academic climate as well as the pressing regulatory issues that face pharmacists today. I am so grateful for all of the experiences I have had over the past three years!"
Treasurer: 2-year term from 2017 to 2019
The Treasurer shall be a member of the Board of Directors and will serve a two-year term maintaining oversight of the Society's funds. The Treasurer shall serve as a member of the Finance Committee, is responsible for all states for dues, meet all federal and state reporting requirements, and present a written report at each regular meeting of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. The Treasurer will be required to present an annual report to the membership and obtain a bond at Society expense in excess of the financial assets of the Society.
Testimonial from Keith Foster: "I had a wonderful experience working as the treasurer over the last three and half years and would encourage any member if they are interested in getting more involved on a state and national level to promote the role of pharmacy in enhancing patient care. Although the role of treasurer traditionally includes developing a yearly budget and signing checks, the office allows you to experience so much more. As a member of the executive board, you have a voice in most, if not all decisions made by the society. Our board meetings are an open forum for each officer to bring up issues within their own office as well as comment on others. Through my roles as treasurer some of the opportunity I got experience included working with the local pharmacy schools to start the groundwork of developing an endowment fund, and looking for future investment opportunities for the society. However, the most rewarding part of this position has been the development of professional and personal relationships with our colleagues from other institutions throughout the state. I am truly grateful to have been given the opportunities to be involved with MSHP as the treasurer!"
BOARD OF DIRECTORS (1):
Director: 4-year term from 2017 to 2021, one vacant seat
The Board, along with the Executive Committee shall have charge of the property of the Society and shall have the authority to control and manage the affairs and funds of the Society. The Board shall have the authority to act on administrative and other matters that are not delineated in the By-Laws. The Board shall have the authority to refer specific matters to any committee for consideration. The Board shall have final authority over the determination of MSHP Society proposals which shall be endorsed for submission to ASHP and MSHP for approval. The Board on behalf of the Society shall accept grants, contributions or bequests to further the purpose of the Society.
Testimonial from Anne Selig: "Serving as a board director for MSHP has been a great experience. I had never been involved in the leadership of MSHP, but was able to dive right into the work of helping to lead and shape the organization as well as serve its members. I felt the experience was invaluable for the opportunity to serve alongside the most dynamic health system pharmacy leaders in the state for 4 years. Each board director has a yearly oversight of specific committees within the organization and participates in monthly meetings as well as the annual strategic planning sessions in the fall as well as the annual meeting in the spring. I would recommend this experience to all, whether new to health system pharmacy or MSHP, or a seasoned pharmacist looking to make a difference in the profession."
